Once and once again — time for your Weekly Encouragement :)
This week's topic is one that I've been touching on a lot in my own private time with God. Here's hoping this is the first of many steps for yourself to overcoming whatever's holding you back from being the great + awesome person you're meant to be.
YOU ARE WORTH IT.
Did you know that?
Worth the investment of time.
Energy and effort.
You are worth all of that.
Yesterday, I came face-to-face with the reality that what tends to hold me back in my business sometimes is the idea that if I don't perform my job well, my client will see me as a "waste of money."
Some further introspection led me to discover that the reason I felt that way was because I (and others) had invested a lot into my various pursuits and a lot of times, it just didn't seem to be worth it...
Maybe you know the feeling.
... I've dropped out of college (twice)
... As a kid, I asked my parents to buy me an instrument that I later didn't bother learning to play
... I've said "no" and turned my back on huge opportunities + open doors
Thinking back, yeah, I had real reasons behind why I didn't follow through with any of that: college wasn't teaching me what I wanted to learn and the system felt like it was getting in the way more than it was helping. The keyboard I asked my parents to buy? I eventually stopped trying with it because I was so overwhelmed and didn't know where to start. The opportunities I've let go in the past? Even as a kid, I could tell when something was aligned with what I wanted and when it wasn't — hilariously enough, I just don't like wasting my time with things that don't help me get to where I want to go.
Now, yes, I have matured over the years. I know that life isn't always about what I want and that it's in the most unexpected processes that we discover important details + opportunities.
But as a kid especially...it hurt to know that I was growing to be seen as a "waste" of money and time.
It undoubtedly left its scars.
Maybe you've felt "not worth it" in life.
Not worth the money.
Not worth the sacrifice or effort.
But you really are, you know.
Sure, maybe like me, you've made decisions in the past that seemed to disappoint or even "spit in the face" of the ones who gave you a chance - the ones who invested what was theirs into you.
You've failed God Himself, without a doubt — and He invested actual blood for you.
If He's willing to still see you as "worth it", despite the number of times in your life you might have made His sacrifice seem like it was wasted.
I've been there and done that.
And yet, there He is still — believing that You were worth the pain. That you were worth the effort and shame.
I spent the whole day yesterday breaking down the reasons why I believed I might not be worth a client's efforts. As God brought to memory every hurtful memory, I wrote it down in detail every moment that made me feel like I might be a "waste of money" today. We ended on a healing note, which even included a heartfelt conversation with both my parents.
They both told me exactly what I would imagine God would say — and what is now what I choose to believe moving forwards:
"No matter the end results...you were worth it."
Can you believe that about yourself today and use it to push you forwards to new heights?
You are worth investing in. Your business and endeavors are worth investing in.
